Almost a month ago - on Oct 8, 2016, I wrote the
first part of this article.
My opinion is that in the absence of official information - anything can be a rumour. It is now obvious that all those who were saying that "Ms Jayalalitha is fine" were actually spreading rumours. (an interesting question wud be - will the courts release all those who actually were saying the truth but were arrested for "spreading rumours"? Hindsight has shown that what they said were not rumours!!!)
Tracheostomy is a procedure which is done, only when normal breathing is not possible. So it is reasonable to conclude that she cant breathe normally - which is a serious condition. The hospital has released statement saying that she is on respiratory support which again proves that she is seriously ill.
Dr Subramanian Swamy tweeted on Oct 29 that she has miraculously regained consciousness!!! If this news is true - then it means that she was in a coma - so all the vaguely worded statements released by the hospital claiming that she was alright and "improving" and "responding well to treatment" are false.
We have an elected government in TamilNadu. But what is worrying is that the government is being controlled by extra constitutional authorities. There is law in Tamilnadu but the administration is in a flux. The redistribution of CM's portfolio to Mr Paneerselvam was done to avert a constitutional crisis - but having a baby-sitter - who will not take any major decisions in the absence of Ms Jayalalitha is worrisome. The administration is overseen by experienced bureaucrats - so there may not be a problem there.
People need to know the real health status of their CM. When MGR was hospitalized - Tamilnadu survived from 1984 to 1987 with an ailing CM. The people who are in love with their "AMMA" want her to recover - but they have a right to know a decent update on her health other than "fever and dehydration" nonsense.
If indeed, she was in a coma, then her thumb impression on election form-B will become another issue. Dr Balaji has certified that she placed her thumb impression - but the reason that he has given doesnt go well with his stature. Tracheostomy does not lead to right hand inflammation.
These are mind boggling political games - i am not even qualified to comment on them.
But doubts remain... what if she is actually in a coma ... what if here thumb impression was obtained without even her "consent"...
There are rumours that Dr Beale has suggested that she be flown to London for further treatment and that she might be flown out during the second week of November....(again tweeted by @swamy39 )
We want out CM back and we want her to recover fast.
My prayers are for her speedy recovery.
