எனது பெற்றோரை காண சென்று இருந்தேன்... அங்கே சென்ற பின்னர்தான் எனது தந்தை இரண்டு நாட்களாக விக்கல் தொல்லையால் அவதிப் பட்டு கொண்டு இருக்கிறார் என்று தெரிய வந்தது.  நான் சென்ற போது அவர்கள் மருத்துவமனை செல்ல தயாராகி கொண்டு இருந்தார்கள். நானும் அவர்களோடு சென்றேன். சற்று நேரம் காத்திருந்த பின் மருத்துவரை சந்தித்தோம். எனது தந்தையை பரிசோதித்த மருத்துவர் சில ஊசி மருந்துகளையும், மாத்திரைகளையும் எழுதிக் கொடுத்தார். அவரது ஊதியமாக வெறும் 100 ரூபாயை பெற்றுக் கொண்டு அடுத்த நோயாளியை கவனிக்க தொடங்கினார்.

அவர் எழுதிக் கொடுத்த மருந்துகள் இவைதான் :

4.   Sus Astragel : 15ml-15ml-15ml

எனது தந்தையை அந்த அறையில் இருந்து வெளியே கொண்டு வருவதற்குள் எனது தாயார் அந்த சீட்டை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு மருந்தகத்திற்கு சென்று விட்டார்கள். எனவே அவர் என்ன ஊசி மருந்துகள் எழுதினார் என்று நான் குறித்து கொள்ள முடியவில்லை. மருந்துகள் வந்த உடன் எனது தந்தைக்கு மூன்று ஊசிகள் போட்டார்கள். மருந்துகளுக்கு ஆன செலவு 400 ரூபாய் சொச்சம்.

வீட்டிற்கு வந்த பின்னும் விக்கல் நிற்கவில்லை. ஏற்கனவே பக்க வாதத்தில் இருந்து மீண்டு வந்து கொண்டிருக்கும் எனது தந்தையின் நிலை எனக்கு சற்று கவலை அளித்தது. வீட்டில் உள்ளவர்களோ “மருந்து வேலை செய்ய சிறிது நேரம் ஆகும்” என்று சற்றே கவலை இன்றி இருந்தார்கள்.

எனக்கு தேரையர் பாடல் ஒன்று அரசல் புரசலாக நினைவுக்கு வந்தது. அது

“எட்டு திப்பிலி ஈரைந்து சீரகம்

காட்டுத் தேனில் கலந்துண்ணே..

விக்கல் விட்டோடி போம்.

விடாவிடில் போதகம் சற்றே சுட்டு போடு..”

எனவே அருகில் உள்ள நாட்டு மருந்து கடைக்கு சென்று திப்பிலி வாங்கி வந்து, 8 திப்பிலி, 10 சீரகம் – இவை இரண்டையும் சற்றே வறுத்து பொடி செய்து, தேனில் குழைத்து என் தந்தையிடம் எடுத்து சென்றேன். இன்னும் விக்கி கொண்டுதான் இருந்தார். நான் இவ்வாறு வரிந்து கட்டிக் கொண்டு ஏதோ செய்வதைப் பார்த்து கொண்டு இருந்த குடும்பத்தினரும், மற்றும் கிறிஸ்துமஸ் விழாவுக்காக வீட்டிற்கு வந்து இருந்த உறவினர்களும் உடன் வந்தார்கள். மனதில் தேரையரிடம் “காலை வாரி விடாதீர்” என்று ஒரு நொடி நினைத்து விட்டு என் தந்தைக்கு மருந்தை கொடுத்தேன். என் கண் முன்னே ஒரு அதிசயத்தை கண்டேன். மருந்து கொடுத்த மறு நொடியே விக்கல் நின்று போனது!!!!

மனதிலே தேரையர்க்கு நன்றி சொல்லி விட்டு, இவ்வளவு மகத்தான மருத்துவத்தையும் நமது உன்னதமான மரபையும் நாம் மறந்து கொண்டு இருக்கும் அவல நிலையை போக்கி மக்கள் நலமோடு வாழ என்னால் ஆன முயற்சிகளை எடுப்பேன் என்று மனதில் நினைத்து கொண்டு இதை எழுதுகிறேன்.
